How much does a website redesign cost for a builder or remodeler?
Short answer
Published price guides put a website redesign anywhere between a few hundred dollars and tens of thousands. WebFX, a web design agency, lists $3,000 to $75,000 for a redesign; Thumbtack’s national cost data puts a website developer at $614 to $1,817. For a builder, the number of pages, new photos and writing, and any move to a new platform drive the price. Katsa rebuilds the home page alone, inside your current platform, for $2,500, and its first five builders pay a founding price of $900.
What the published price guides say
Each guide counts something different, so read the ranges side by side instead of as one market price. We read every figure below on November 4, 2026.
| Source | What it counts | Price |
|---|---|---|
| WebFX, a web design agency | A redesign of a whole site | $3,000 to $75,000; $3,000 to $24,000 for a site of 1 to 50 pages |
| WebFX, by who does the work | A redesign of a whole site | Agency $5,000 to $75,000; freelancer $3,000 to $10,000; in-house or do it yourself $800 to $5,000 |
| Clutch, from verified client reviews | Web design projects reviewed on Clutch | Most under $10,000; $38,105 on average |
| Clutch | Hourly rates | $100 to $149 an hour for the agencies it shortlists; $25 to $49 an hour for Wix, WordPress or Squarespace work |
| Thumbtack, national cost data | A website developer hired through Thumbtack | $614 to $1,817; $1,057 on average |
| Upwork | Freelance web designers on Upwork | $15 to $30 an hour, median rates |
The numbers come from WebFX’s redesign pricing guide, Clutch’s web design pricing guide, Thumbtack’s website developer cost guide and Upwork’s web designer cost page. Agencies sit at the top of these ranges and freelance marketplaces at the bottom.
For a sense of the labor, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics puts 2025 median pay for web developers and digital designers at $47.85 an hour. That’s what an employee earns, not what a client pays.
What moves the price for a builder
- Pages. WebFX calls site size the biggest factor in redesign pricing, so a site with a page for every finished home costs more to redo than a five-page site.
- Writing and photos. If the designer writes your copy, WebFX prices copywriting for a small site at $2,000 to $4,000. Photos of your own finished work save you a shoot.
- A move to a new platform. Thumbtack lists complex migrations, such as changing the domain or the content management system, among the jobs that cost more. Staying or moving covers what a move involves.
- Who does the work. Clutch puts the agencies it shortlists at $100 to $149 an hour, while Upwork’s median for freelance web designers is $15 to $30.
- Extras such as forms that feed your marketing software. Thumbtack names integrations with tools like Mailchimp or Salesforce as back-end work that adds to the bill.
Costs that come after launch
A redesign is a one-time cost, but the site keeps billing you. Thumbtack’s guide puts web hosting at about $8 a month on average and a domain at about $15 a year.
On a site builder, the platform plan replaces separate hosting. Comparing platforms for builders lists what Wix, Squarespace, WordPress and Duda charge each month, from their own pricing pages.
Then there’s upkeep: someone has to change the copyright year, add new projects and check that the forms still deliver. Plan who does it before the redesign ends.
Where Katsa’s price fits
Katsa rebuilds one page, the home page, for one fixed price. We build it inside the platform your site already runs on, from your own photos and facts, so there’s no platform move and no new hosting bill.
You see the finished page on your own site before it goes live and before you pay anything. Payment is due once it’s live, by card or invoice, and the price includes a fix list for the rest of the site.
A full site starts at $9,000, quoted after the home page. If one starts within 30 days of the page going live, the home page price comes off it.
What to ask before you accept a quote
- Ask how many pages the price covers and what each extra page costs.
- Ask who writes the copy and who supplies the photos.
- Confirm the site stays in your own account. Who owns my website lists what to check.
- If any page address changes, ask who sets up the redirects.
- Ask when you pay and what you see before you do.
- Ask for a date. The redesign timeline shows typical ranges.
Questions
Does my platform change the price?
Less than the size of the job does. WebFX names site size as the biggest factor, and Clutch’s guide lists the same $25 to $49 an hour for designers working in Wix, WordPress and Squarespace.
Can I pay for the home page now and the rest later?
Yes. Katsa rebuilds the home page first and includes a fix list for the other pages. A full site starts at $9,000, and the home page price comes off it if it starts within 30 days of the page going live.
