Rebuild your home page inside Squarespace and keep the rest

In short

Katsa rebuilds your home page inside your own Squarespace site, using the photos and facts already on it. Your plan, domain, billing and other pages stay put. You see the finished page on your own site before it goes live, it’s live within seven days of your go-ahead, and the $2,500 is due once it’s live.

What stays the same, and what can change

The work happens inside your site, so your account, plan, domain and billing stay yours and stay unchanged. Squarespace keeps ownership with the owner: even an administrator can’t transfer it.

  • Your home page’s address. The homepage shows at your domain itself, without a URL slug, whichever page holds the homepage setting.
  • Your other pages and their URL slugs, which live in each page’s own settings.
  • Your homepage’s search title and description. Squarespace builds the homepage title from your site title by default and uses the SEO site description for the homepage; both are site-wide settings, and they stay unchanged unless you ask.

Your header and footer can change, and that’s usually the point. Squarespace shows the same header and footer on every page, so a phone link or an address added there appears site-wide.

Templates depend on your version. Version 7.1 has no template to switch; on 7.0, switching templates changes the design and structure of the whole site, though most content stays, and a home page rebuild doesn’t need it.

How you give us access, without your password

You invite us as a contributor, and we log in with our own Squarespace account. Only owners and administrators can send the invite.

  1. Open the Permissions & Ownership panel and click Invite Contributor.
  2. Enter Yaz Caleb and yaz@katsa.co.
  3. Switch on Administrator, then click Invite.

Why Administrator: the Website editor permission can add content to existing pages but can’t add pages or change styles, and a home page rebuild usually needs one or both. Administrators can do almost everything the owner can except transfer ownership, so remove us once the page is live: Permissions & Ownership, our name, then Remove Contributor.

Note

When two contributors edit at once, Squarespace says their changes can overwrite each other, so hold off on edits while we work.

How to undo it

Squarespace has no version history for pages. Its help center says there’s no auto-save or revision history when editing, and once you exit the editor, changes can’t be undone.

So the undo that works is keeping the old page. Squarespace’s own advice for unfinished work is to disable the page until it’s ready, and a disabled page shows in your Pages panel when you’re logged in but stays hidden from visitors and search engines.

When a new page becomes the homepage, the old one stays in the Pages panel, so going back means setting it as the homepage again. You can restore a deleted page for 30 days from Deleted Pages at the bottom of the Pages panel.

What matters for a builder’s home page on Squarespace

  • Know your version. Open the Pages panel and scroll to the bottom: 7.1 sites show a Version 7.1 label, and 7.0 sites show their template’s name.
  • On 7.1, Fluid Engine sections have their own mobile layout. You can arrange, resize and hide blocks for phones without touching desktop, but text and link changes apply to both, and Fluid Engine isn’t available on 7.0.
  • Upgrading an older classic editor section to Fluid Engine can shift its layout slightly and you can’t revert it after you save, so duplicate the section first if you’re unsure.
  • Your phone number belongs in the header as a tap-to-call link. The tap-to-call page shows how to set it up on Squarespace.

What we found on Squarespace builder sites

In Katsa’s review of 171 builder and remodeler websites, read on October 30, 2026, 20 of the sites ran on Squarespace. Both numbers below come from the header and footer, two of the five parts this rebuild covers.

Questions

Do I need to upgrade my Squarespace plan?

Usually not. Basic and Legacy Personal plans allow one contributor besides the owner, so if someone already holds that spot, remove them first; Core, Plus, Advanced, Legacy Business and both Legacy Commerce plans allow unlimited contributors.

Will my search ranking change?

Nobody can promise a ranking. Your domain stays the homepage’s address, and the homepage title and SEO site description are site-wide settings that stay unchanged unless you ask us to change them.

Can you work on the rest of the site?

Yes. Every rebuild includes a fix list for the rest of your site, and a full site starts at $9,000, quoted after the home page; if one starts within 30 days of the page going live, the home page price comes off it. Care Plus costs $349 a month and covers up to 3 hours of edits.

Should I move off Squarespace instead?

That’s its own decision. The page on staying or moving covers Squarespace as well as Wix.
